The Seafood Barge is closed because its lease has expired
The land lord, Port of Egypt Marina, wishes to operate the premises themselves.
The Seafood Barge closed at the end of its sixteenth season. The
closing is particularly unfortunate since, despite the difficult
economic times, the Seafood Barge has had one of its most successful
years ever. We attribute the restaurant's long term success to support
from the North Fork's wineries, bed and breakfasts and hotels, the
numerous restaurant critics who have consistently favorably reviewed the
restaurant, and the restaurant's many local patrons. Much credit must
be given to the restaurant staff for having continually delivered the
dining excellence our customers have come to expect.
Plans for a successor restaurant in Southold have commenced and it is
hoped that the new premises will be opened in time for the 2010 season.
News of the progress towards a new restaurant will be posted on this
website.
